Carroll O'Keeffe & Co. Ltd. has recently completed some work in the Healthcare Sector. Construction in these environments requires increased attention to detail, including control of dusty environments, control of infection and provision of quality finishes that are easy to maintain.

Cuisle Centre, Portlaoise

Construction of day care centre, a ‘pentagonal’ shaped building in timber frame construction.
Architect designed building in a pentagonal shape with an apex located on each side.  The roofing was complex and the building constructed in timber frame with a limestone cladding.
There is a central courtyard with fountain accessible from within the building. Facilities included : Dayroom, consultant rooms, treatment and therapy spaces, kitchen, toilet, shower and laundry facilities.
Constructed on a greenfield site but some distance from gas and sewer services. Connections involved substantial road works and road crossings.

Abbeyleix Hospital C.N.U, Abbeyleix, Co Laois

Extension to Abbeyleix Hospital which included major alterations to existing building and the addition of an extension.

Extension had rainscreen cladding, aluminium windows and flat roof.  Internal alterations included upgrade of all rooms to ensuite, with new M&E services to modern HIQUA standards. We provided special bariatric facilities to some rooms.

Convent of Mercy, Tullamore

This major renovation altered the internal layout of the convent to a retirement facility.  All rooms were converted to ensuite with renewed M&E services.

Alterations to kitchens and service rooms.  New windows were fitted to refurbished rooms. All M & E services were renewed and upgraded.

Maryborough Family Practice, Portlaoise

Six new doctors consulting rooms with all necessary services.

Reception, Nurses Rooms, Admin offices, Toilets and Kitchen completed the facilities provided.

Midland Regional Hospital Mountmellick - CNU Enabling Works

This is a small Civil Engineering Project for HSE Mountmellick Hospital.
It involved the installation of underground Water Tanks for Fire Fighting Purposes.  Together with a new car park and lighting.
Ground conditions were difficult and required the use of 11m Larsen Piles together with Groundforce Excavation Supports.
